The Chinese brand Honor has just officially unveiled the release date of its brand new folding smartphone in France. It is at the end of May that we will be able to see the lines of the device in commerce.
If we already knew a lot about the Honor Magic Vs, important information was missing. The young brand had expressed its desire to release the smartphone pliant on European territory, and therefore in France. The device will therefore be released on May 24.

We have known about this Honor Magic Vs for a long time now. Indeed, our first handling of the smartphone dates back to November 2022. Since then, the folding has obviously been released in China and has been able to present itself from all angles. It is in particular at the Mobile World Congress, which was held in Barcelona at the beginning of the year, that Honor presented its device in more depth, intended for the European market. So here it is officially scheduled for May 24, a little over a month after the launch in France of its flagship Magic 5 Pro, which we also got to try.
The folding smartphone segment being what it is, the Honor Magic Vs will be priced at €1,599. It is a new competitor to Samsung in the more affordable western market. The Korean company has reigned supreme until now. But the proliferation of folding models in the months and years to come should shake up the juggernaut somewhat.
A large, heavy and thin folding knife
From an overall point of view, this Honor Magic Vs presents itself as a larger and heavier folding device than its main competitor, the Galaxy Z Fold 4 from Samsung. Unfolded, the device reaches dimensions of 160.3 x 141.5 x 6.1 mm. Folded, it measures 160.3 x 72.6 x 12.9mm, almost 3mm less than Samsung’s latest folding smartphone. On the scale, however, the Magic Vs loses the fight, with its 267 g, against 263 g for the Galaxy Z Fold 4. For the rest, it will only come in one configuration including 12 GB of RAM and 512 GB of storage. It has a 6.5-inch screen refreshed at 120 Hz and offering a definition of 1080 x 2560 pixels (431 dpi). Its internal screen, unfolded, displays a 7.9-inch panel and a definition of 1,984 x 2,272 pixels (382 dpi). Unlike many recent smartphones, the Honor Magic Vs will only contain a Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 chip. It has a 5,000 mAh battery rechargeable at 66 W. Finally, its photo block contains three sensors, including one 54MP IMW800 model main, 50MP ultra-wide and 8MP telephoto.
