The Calw Association of District Craftsmen had invited its elders to the presentation of the certificates of master craftsmen of gold and diamonds in the Hall of Mirrors in Bad Liebenzell.
Bad Liebenzell – 14 master craftsmen passed the exam in 1962 (diploma of master diamond craftsman for 60 years) and 24 in 1972 (diploma of gold master craftsman for 50 years).
A huge window of time that encompassed almost 2000 years of life experience in Bad Liebenzell. Of course, emotions were high and memories emerged of times when wages were just under 500 DM a month and heating oil still cost 22 pfennigs (1962). Ten years later, the salary would have been 1350 DM, the heating oil would have cost 19 pfennigs – and among other things the Bobby Car was invented, Uwe Huber looked back. He described the awards as recognition and appreciation. “They were the generation that took Germany this far,” said the district master craftsman.
Make sure the dual system worked
Representing Mayor Roberto Chiari, Deputy Fritz Steininger praised craftsmanship and Joachim Wohlfeil discussed the current situation. “We are all affected by the global situation, the situation is more uncertain than it has been for a long time,” said the president of the Karlsruhe Chamber of Crafts. This ranges from raw materials to personnel. “To rely only on the academy was – and in my opinion – a false step”, criticized and praised the jubilee Wohlfeil: “You know something, you can do something and you were needed everywhere and do not forget, you made a difference in your work and involved in the training and made sure the dual system worked. ”
“We need it in the coming months”
“It is a tradition that the district is represented at this celebration,” explained Norbert Weiser. Representing the district administrator Helmut Riegger, he included in his greeting some impressive figures of 2,500 companies with over 14,000 employees and a turnover of over 1.6 billion euros. “You helped build this country, keep the trust, we need it in the coming months,” the head of department said.
“Gave many people a new perspective”
The District Artisans Association had managed to get Klaus Mack to deliver the speech. The CDU deputy described the trades as “an economic powerhouse next door” and the dual training system as a model of success. And this in difficult times, because according to the parliamentarian: “If everyone only follows courses, soon we will have only designers and theorists and no longer creatives”. Mack also stressed the contribution made by skilled trades in the course of the waves of refugees. “You have given a lot of people a new perspective.”
Great praise from the district master craftsman for the choir of cylinders, which musically accompanied the event. “It was a huge relief to me when I heard you were back,” Huber told the Neuweiler singers. The sympathies are obviously mutual: “We could come back”, Walter Schaible accepted the praise with a smile, and then surprised the jubilee with his fellow singers with a real demonstration of carpenter’s gossip with the song “Ein Heller und ein Patzen” . Not only because the district chief is himself a carpenter, but because there were six other carpenters among those celebrating their anniversaries and when they were called, Obermeister Rolf Dengler (Sulz) was able to see the traditional carpenter costumes ( Fritz Lechler even came with a hat) – he can’t resist titling their appearance with “Now comes the great cinema”.
