The best apprentices in our Graz area were honored at a special gala in Technopark Raaba. Numerous representatives from business showed their appreciation for the award winners by their presence.

192 neue “Stars Of Styria”
In the Graz-Surroundings region last year 1.500 persons completed an apprenticeship, they were trained in 566 farms. The best 192 graduates have now received the coveted “Star of Styria” presented by WKO Vice President Andreas Herz and the Graz-Surrounding Regional Office Chairman Michael Hohl. “Regardless of the industry in which we are currently meeting entrepreneurs, the shortage of workers and skilled workers is a major issue across the country. Today we have to ensure that there will be enough skilled workers available tomorrow after Corona,” explained the two WKO representatives.
Demographic development
One of the main reasons for this discrepancy is the demographic development. “Because of them, only half as many young people are now entering the labor market as in the 1970s,” says Hohl. 239 apprentices have in the previous year Apprenticeship exam passed, 76 of them with distinction and 96 with good results. “The Star of Styria award is a powerful sign of the Appreciation towards those people and companies that invest particularly in training and thus in the future of our country,” said Hohl at the gala.
