Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia Recently, Honor introduced its ‘Magic V2’ folding cellphone product which is predicted to be the thinnest foldable phone on the market. In an interview with Honor CEO Zhao Ming, the company strives to always innovate in order to tear down Apple’s monopoly.

According to him, only innovation can defeat a powerful HP manufacturer like Apple. He analogizes the story of Nokia which once triumphed, but lost because it did not provide new innovations.

“20 years ago, no one thought that the iPhone could beat Nokia. We must not be ashamed to challenge the power of the iPhone at this time,” he said, quoted from Gizmochina, Monday (17/7/2023).

“To be successful, we must be optimistic about our potential. Limiting ourselves by thinking ‘it’s impossible to beat [Apple]’ is very counter productive,” he added.

It is known, currently HP manufacturers are working on folding cellphones in droves. This is because analysts predict that the market share for folding cellphones will increase sharply in the next few years.

HP manufacturers are also trying to present the latest folding technology innovations to win the hearts of consumers. However, until now the iPhone has not shown any signs of releasing a folding cellphone.

However, some rumors say that Apple has plans to follow this trend. Responding to this, Zhao responded positively, although he remained optimistic that he would beat the iPhone.

“If the iPhone enters folding technology, this is a positive development because the industry is more mature. However, Honor will continue to push the boundaries in a competitive landscape. We will not be worried or afraid of competition,” he explained.

At the end of this year, Honor will reportedly release a cheap cellphone with external folding capabilities. We’ll wait!
