The whole country is suffering from forest fires.
Chungnam and Daejeon are suffering the most damage as large forest fires have not been extinguished for three days.
First, let’s go to the site in Hongseong, Chungcheongnam-do.
Reporter Lee Seung-seop, are you saying the fire is still not extinguished?

Yes, I am standing on the roof of a family house in Seobu-myeon, Hongseong-gun.
You can see white smoke rising from the mountains behind me.
Firefighting helicopters and forest fire fighting vehicles are constantly moving up and down the mountain, but the flames have yet to be fully extinguished.
Residents said they stayed up all night for the past two nights, fearing that sparks would fly from Apsan to their homes.
The Hongseong wildfire has entered its third day.
Since this morning, 20 helicopters have been deployed and are accelerating the evolution.
As of 10:00 AM, the evolution rate is 69%.
Already, 71 facilities, including 34 houses, have been burned, and the preliminary estimate of forest damage far exceeds 1,400 hectares.
Chungcheongnam-do decided to request that forest fire-affected areas in the province, including Hongseong, be declared as special disaster areas.
People’s Power Representative Kim Ki-hyun also visited the Hongseong Forest Fire Command Headquarters this morning and said that he would actively take care of the declaration of a special disaster area.
Forest fires at the border between Geumsan-gun, Chungcheongnam-do and Seo-gu, Daejeon have also continued for the third day.
Likewise, while the third stage of the wildfire was down, the evolution rate remained at 71% due to strong winds.
About 600 people, including residents and residents of 16 nearby nursing homes, are staying at welfare centers to avoid the fire.
In Chungcheongnam-do, up to 60mm of rain is predicted from late afternoon today, so until it rains, it seems to be the biggest hurdle for forest fire evolution.
