[스포츠조선 안소윤 기자] Actress Hong Sa-bin expressed her gratitude to Song Joong-ki, her senior who co-starred with her in the movie ‘Hwaran’.
Sabin Hong recently met with our magazine at the Sports Chosun office building in Mok-dong, Yangcheon-gu, Seoul and said, “Senior Song Joong-ki said he complimented me at a dinner party for the drama ‘Vincenzo'” and “After filming ‘Hwaran’, a lot of ridiculously good things have happened.” He said.
In the play, Hong Sa-bin plays Yeon-gyu, a boy who wants to escape reality, and captures in detail the emotional changes that the character experiences. Even though it was her first time working with her senior, Song Joong-ki, she created a perfect ensemble, earning her praise from audiences and critics. From the time he was first invited to the Cannes International Film Festival until the release of his work, he never failed to mention Song Joong-ki. Even when he lifted the Blue Dragon Trophy for the first time in his life, he received cheers and applause from the audience, giving Song Joong-ki the honor of winning the award.
Sabin Hong said, “I heard that the dinner party for the drama ‘Vincenzo’ was held a long time later due to the coronavirus. I am close with the costume staff who was at the dinner party at the time, and Joong-ki senior said that he always talked about me on the drama set. ‘Hwaran’ was a story about me in my 20s. “It remained as a seal, and I thought it was a work that contained my personal history. Since filming the movie, so many incredible good things have happened that I don’t think it even felt real,” he said.
My friends also played a big role in bringing me one step closer to my dream of becoming an actor, which always seemed impossible. Sabin Hong said, “I have been going to school for a very long time. Of course, school classes are important, but I wanted to gain experience at a performance hall, so I continued to work part-time in sound and lighting. However, that money was not enough to enroll in an acting academy. Every year-end, while drinking beer with my friends, I would confess my worries, saying, ‘This year seems to be passing by in vain without accomplishing anything.’ But my friends gave me 1 million won in cash and encouraged me to work hard. I received that money and bought a house. “I remember crying profusely on the way there. Kim Ji-seop, Lee Ho-seung, and Kwon Do-gyun are precious friends that I will never forget for the rest of my life,” he said.
