Hong Kong welcomed teh new year with a breathtaking ‍spectacle: its first-ever pyrotechnics drone ⁣show. On Saturday, December 28th, 2024, hundreds of spectators gathered along ‌Victoria Harbour to witness a mesmerizing 10-minute display ‍featuring 1,000 drones,‍ some equipped‌ with dazzling fireworks.

The show,part of a city-wide⁤ campaign to ⁢raise awareness​ for panda conservation,featured intricate formations.‌ Hundreds of drones synchronized‌ to‌ create ⁤a three-dimensional image of a giant ‍panda, slowly rotating against the night sky.‌ ‍ During other segments, fireworks burst from⁣ select ‌drones, adding an extra layer of excitement‌ to the already captivating performance.

Many attendees arrived⁣ hours early to secure prime viewing spots. ‌ Eddie Chow, a​ father who brought his two⁤ children, expressed his enthusiasm: “I think the ​rundown was great, combining ⁢fireworks ‌and drones is ​a very special theme, Hong Kong should​ have more of these ‍activities,” he said, adding that​ it ⁤was his⁣ first drone show⁢ experience.

Jodi Hung, a Hong Kong resident, echoed the positive sentiment: “I think people who designed the drone show had very good technique, very amazing, they combined art and techniques together,”‍ she shared.

The event is part of a larger initiative following the⁣ recent gift of two‌ giant pandas,An An and Ke Ke,from Beijing to⁢ Hong Kong. This brings the total⁣ number of giant ‍pandas residing at Ocean ⁢Park to six.The city has been hosting⁤ various ​panda-themed events, including ⁢exhibitions and carnivals, to ‍celebrate their arrival and promote conservation efforts. The breathtaking drone show is expected to boost ⁤tourism ⁤in the region, further highlighting Hong Kong’s vibrant cultural ‍scene.
