Hong Kong airport authorities announced this Friday the temporary ban on stopovers for passengers from more than 150 countries in order to “control” and contain the coronavirus pandemic. The suspension will be in effect for one month and will affect all countries classified as “high risk”.
Thus, from next January 16 the ban will be applied to 153 countries. This measure could affect the Winter Olympics that will take place in Beijing in less than a month, more specifically, they will begin on February 4.
According to the Bloomberg agency, athletes, diplomats and other members of official delegations will be exempt from this ban and will be able to travel to the Olympic Games with a stopover in Hong Kong.
