The Hong Kong team sent 9 men and 10 women to participate in the Asian team competition this year. However, because the competition is divided into men’s and women’s groups, the Hong Kong team’s two mixed doubles pairs Tang Chun Man/Tse Ying Suet and Li Jinxi/Ng Zhirou did not participate in the competition. The Hong Kong team played in the men’s group A against China. In the first men’s singles match, Lee Cheuk-yiu, the “big brother of the Hong Kong team” who reached the final of the Super 750 Indian Open at the beginning of the year, played against China’s Weng Hongyang. However, Lee Cheuk-yao’s style was not smooth this time and he lost in two straight games 15:21 and 17:21.
