As Hong Kong authorities offered large bounties for the arrest of overseas democratic activists, criticism from Western countries, including the United States, is growing.
Controversy is also heating up between the UK and China over the trial for violating the National Security Act in Hong Kong by instigating anti-China media.

Hong Kong police recently offered a bounty of 1 million Hong Kong dollars, or 170 million Korean won, per person for democratic activists living overseas.
Five people, including Simon Cheng and Francis Hui, who have fled to the UK and are helping the democratic camp in Hong Kong, are wanted.

Most democratic figures have been detained since the implementation of the Hong Kong National Security Law, which punishes four crimes, including national division and collusion with foreign forces, with up to life imprisonment. They were either indicted or went abroad.
Western countries, including the United States and the United Kingdom, and the international human rights group Amnasty International strongly condemned the measure, calling it a “threat to democracy and human rights,” and urged its withdrawal.

Britain and China are engaged in a sharp war of nerves over the ongoing trial in Hong Kong of Jimmy Lai, the founder of the anti-China media outlet Bin Fruit Daily, on charges of violating the National Security Act.
Jimmy Lae’s son Sebastian recently met with British Foreign Secretary David Cameron and asked for help, saying his father’s trial was a sham trial that had already been concluded.
The British Foreign Office said it would “continue to stand with Jimmy Lai and the people of Hong Kong” against the national security law in Hong Kong.
Diplomatic conflict is escalating as the Chinese Ministry of Foreign Affairs does not hide its anger, calling it a terrible interference in internal affairs.
