Honduran engineer stands out at world congress in Canada

Writing. The Honduran engineer Jose Gerardo Mendoza obtained recognition internationally by presenting his innovative research on seismic design at the 16th World Congress on Computational Mechanics and the 4th Pan-American Congress on Computational Mechanics.

This event was held at the Vancouver Convention Centre in Canada. It brought together experts from more than 50 countries, including powerhouses such as the United States, Japan, Germany and South Korea.

The Honduran stood out at the event.

Mendoza, who has a doctorate in engineering from the University of the Republic of Uruguaypresented his study entitled “Performance-based seismic design for irregular structures.” This work delves into the nonlinear behavior of structures and the application of performance-based design for buildings with complex geometries.

The event took place from July 27 to August 1. It was organized by the International Association for Computational Mechanics (IACM) and the Canadian Association for Computational Science and Engineering (CACSE). During the congress, numerous topics of relevance, both academic and practical, in the field of engineering were addressed.
