Honda Motor Co., a Japanese automotive company announced on Tuesday that it will suspend production at most US and Canadian plants for a week due to a number of factors, including a shortage of spare parts.
Honda has faced a number of supply chain problems due to the effects of the coronavirus pandemic, congestion in various ports, chip shortages and severe winter weather in recent weeks, particularly in Texas.
“All of our automotive plants in the United States and Canada will be affected in some way, but most plants will be temporarily shut down during the week of March 22,” a company spokesman said.
As the situation changes, the duration of the production adjustment may vary, explains Honda.
