The fate of Honda Mobilio is currently quite sad. Sales are very low, far from its competitors in the low-volume minivan class. In addition, Honda currently only offers Furniture with one type.
Yusak Billy, director of business innovation and sales and marketing of PT Honda Prospect Motor (HPM), spoke about the fate of Mobilio. He said that the production of the furniture was still in progress.
“Mobilio still has a question. Outside of Java, many people like the Mobilio S manual,” said Billy.
Honda Mobilio’s production was initially curtailed due to the semiconductor chip crisis. At the time, Honda preferred to prioritize the production of the Honda Brio because the demand was higher. Honda Brio and Honda Mobilio are said to use the same platform.
According to Billy, the demand for Honda Furniture is still there. Most of Honda Furniture’s consumers are either wholesalers or fleets buyers, either for use as rental cars or as office operating cars.
“Furniture costs about 160 per month. There are about 60% of the fleet, 40% of the retail customers. The fleet can be rented, it can be of various kinds,” Billy said.
Moving forward, Honda will continue to monitor the situation. If the demand is high, Honda learns how to increase the production of Honda Furniture.
“It still depends on the supply of components. We will see how it develops, if the demand is high, we will continue to study it in the future,” he said.
Meanwhile, citing data from the Indonesian Automobile Industries Association (Gaikindo), wholesale sales or distribution from factories to dealerships for Honda Mobilio cars are relatively small. This year alone, in September, only 897 Honda Mobilio units were shipped to dealers.
At a minimum, Honda Mobilio sales were recorded at just 18 units in July 2022. Indeed, in the first two months of 2022, Honda sent Honda Mobilio.
Currently Honda Mobilio is still on sale only type S with manual transmission. The S-type Furniture manual is sold at a price of Rp 229.9 million. by road in Jakarta.
