Honda SUV e: concept: electric for China

LIGHTS OF THE SCENE – Scheduled in Beijing from September 26 to October 5, Auto China 2020 is among the first major motor shows organized after the start of the pandemic. Honda took the limelight and announced the prototype Honda SUV e:concept, which anticipates the first electric car designed for the Chinese market, the largest in the world for battery-powered cars.

LOW ROOF – The Honda SUV e:concept, whose dimensions have not been announced, has a rather long bonnet, a compact rear and a low roof, with side windows that are not very wide in height. Its bodywork has smooth surfaces and minimalist features, because it is without the grille, has very thin LED lights and doors without handles. However, the large openings in the lower part of the fascia are gritty, and also the protruding wheel arches give a touch of dynamism to the whole.

NEW HYBRID FOR THE CR-V – Together with Honda SUV e:concept, the Japanese company has unveiled the Honda CR-V SUV with a plug-in hybrid system: it has two electric motors, like the hybrid of the CV-R Hev already on the market, but the batteries and electronics have been modified in order to improve driving in electric mode. Honda has not disclosed the technical data of the new PHEV hybrid.

MORE SAFETY – During Auto China 2020, the new platform was also unveiled Honda Sensing, consisting of a front camera with increased viewing angle and a new radar, which detects obstacles around the car. Thanks to these systems, the new Honda Sensing is able to make driving aid systems more effective, as well as making them work in more complex driving situations.
