Competition in the MPV class seems to be quite fun to watch. Honda recently leaked a teaser of the latest generation Stepwgn which is scheduled to debut on January 7, 2022. A coincidence where rivals such as Toyota Voxy and Noah also uploaded a teaser of their medium MPV recently.
Step WGN without ba-bi-bu will immediately get Honda’s e:HEV hybrid powertrain which makes it more fuel efficient than before. However, it is not yet known whether the hybrid system will be matched with the engine. When referring to the models that are still circulating today, the Honda Stepwgn relies on a 1.5-liter turbo engine, aka the same as the engine used in the CR-V and Civic.
In terms of design, this minivan adopts simpler lines than its predecessor, with the proportions of two squares, horizontal window lines, and a flat tail. At the front, the new headlights have a more serious look featuring dynamic LED turn signals, while the grille has a satin-chrome finish.
As quoted from carscoops.com, the teaser also includes two interior images, showing a three-row seating layout with room for six passengers. The middle row consists of two individual seats with reclining armrests and footrests, while the dashboard features a large, stand-alone touchscreen for infotainment.
This latest model is also available in a sporty-looking Modulo X trim. The first deliveries of the minivan are expected to begin in Japan in the spring of 2022.
