Honda Showcases Spectators ‘Gloves’ at Mandalika MotoGP Tests

Jakarta, CNN Indonesia

There is an interesting story behind the first test session MotoGP Mandalika 2022, Friday (11/2). Several spectators were caught watching the pre-season test session using a typical Indonesian sarong.

Repsol Honda uploaded a unique photo depicting three local residents who were busy watching the 2022 Mandalika MotoGP test behind the fence at the Mandalika Circuit, Lombok, West Nusa Tenggara.

Two of them are seen squatting while the other one is standing, wearing a sarong while folding his arms. The three of them seemed enthusiastic about observing the pace of world-class racers.

“Private or public test? #MandalikaTest. Amazing passion from the locals here,” wrote Repsol Honda to describe the unique photo.

The Mandalika Grand Prix Association (MGPA) as the organizer of the 2022 Mandalika MotoGP test has deliberately limited the audience quota to anticipate the spread of Covid-19.

The pre-season test which will take place from 11 to 13 February seems ‘private’ because it only prioritizes invited guests. Because, only 800 people can attend.

However, the enthusiasm of local residents was unstoppable. They are looking for a way to be able to watch the action of the world’s top racers try out the pride circuit in the country.
