Honda revives its 1984 supercar concept – News

At the time of its first appearance, the HP-X concept was supposed to introduce a radical approach to a highly aerodynamic sports car, as evident from its wedge-shaped silhouette. But attention is also drawn to the glass cabin, where the cockpit folds away, or the very low headlights. The cabin was also modern.

The car was powered by a 2.0-liter V6 engine derived from a Honda Formula 2 racing car.

However, a lot of time has passed since the first presentation, so the automaker decided to thoroughly update the concept before it is presented on the main stage of the event at Pebble Beach. After all, this is the first Japanese car to be presented at the main event in the last 50 years.

During the renovation, the automaker tried to keep the car in as original condition as possible. The body is decorated with the same color combination of white and navy blue that was on the first one. The cabin is covered in red and white. The one-piece acrylic cockpit remained original.

The first appearance of the revamped Honda HP-X concept will take place at the Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance on Sunday, August 18.
