If you find that Honda introduces a brand new civic every now and then, you’re not alone, but it’s not quite like that. The eleventh generation comes six years after the tenth, and finally as a hatchback that is more important to Europe than sedan revealed a few weeks ago.
–
Nevertheless, the European press release is not very shared. It only says that the civic remains a key model for the European market and that it will be offered exclusively with the e: HEV hybrid powertrain, just like the HR-V and Jazz models. Whether we should take it as the exclusion of a sharp Type-R is not yet certain, but it would be a serious pity.

Americans are more shared, saying that the luggage compartment loading opening is 4 cm wider than the previous generation and that the hatchback is 12.4 cm shorter in the rear overhang and at the same time the overall length compared to the eleventh generation sedan. This means a length of 4549 mm; width is 1800 mm and height 1414 mm.
–
The interior clearly refers to the design in the new jazz or electric car with its strictly horizontal lines, which according to the manufacturer were designed to be as unobtrusive as possible. However, the traditional chapel of instruments remained, only the instrument shield is exclusively a display.
–
The central display can be 7 or 9 inches diagonal, depending on the variant, and supports phone mirroring using Android Auto or Apple CarPlay.

A two-liter atmospheric four-cylinder and a 1.5-liter turbo engine will be available on the US market, with a six-speed manual or CVT transmission. However, all civics are to be equipped with the Honda Sensing package of driving aids and safety systems, and the global press release also mentions the Adaptive Driving Beam headlight system, which is to guarantee the best possible visibility when driving at night.
–
According to a US press release, the Honda Sensing system now uses only a camera with a wider field of view, not the camera and radar as before. The camera has better software and stronger hardware and detects other cars, pedestrians and cyclists, as well as traffic signs and lines on the road. Thanks to it, adaptive cruise control and active lane monitoring also work.
