The huge demand, combined with the problems plaguing all automakers today, has prompted Honda to suspend taking orders in the domestic market.
The Honda Civic Type R is among the most capable and most popular representatives of the sharp hatchback segment with front-wheel drive. The new generation, which was introduced already in the summer of last year, followed up on the popularity of its predecessor with at least extraordinary interest from customers.
In the domestic Japanese market, however, customer interest was so great that the automaker finally decided to temporarily suspend accepting orders. It cannot be overlooked that the automotive industry is still struggling with a whole series of unpleasant complications, which the automaker also mentioned in the press release.
„We apologize for the temporary suspension of orders for customers considering the Civic Type R. Thank you for considering our vehicle. Since its launch, the Civic Type R has been well received by customers and we have received a large number of orders. On the other hand, the effects of the spread of the new coronavirus infection, chronic shortage of semiconductors, unstable arrival of parts and delays in logistics make it difficult to predict future production. In order to ensure delivery of the Civic Type R to all customers who have already ordered it, we have temporarily stopped accepting orders,” is stated in the press release of the car company.
Unfortunately, we were unable to verify the situation on the Czech market in more detail, but it can be assumed that the number of models that can be ordered in a given year has been determined in advance for export markets. The configurator and price list of the model are still available on the website of the Czech representative office of the car manufacturer.
Let us remind you that the Czech representative office started accepting orders from December 1 last year. Deliveries to the Czech market were expected during the first quarter of 2023. The price of the car starts at 1,299,900 CZK.
Standard equipment includes, for example, LED headlights with automatic high beam switching, sports seats, driving mode selector, digital instrument panel, Honda Connect infotainment with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, Honda Sensing security package, front and rear parking sensors, wireless phone charging or rear parking the camera.
But the most important thing is traditionally hidden under the hood: a turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder with an output of 242 kW and a maximum torque of 420 Nm, which is able to get the car from 0 to 100 km/h in 5.4 seconds and give it a maximum speed of up to 275 km/h The engine is connected exclusively to a six-speed manual transmission.
