Jakarta –
Several Honda automatic scooters have used a new frame called eSAF. However, the eSAF frame is now being discussed a lot because there are many cases of rusty, porous, and even broken motorbike chassis.
On social media there is still a lot of discussion about Honda’s porous automatic motorbike frame. Some also had broken motorbike frames.
eSAF frame or enhanced Smart Architecture Frame (eSAF) was developed in Indonesia for several Honda scooters. Honda first applied this type of frame to the Honda Genio at the start of its launch in 2019. Now, the frame that is claimed to be lighter has been used in several of Honda’s flagship scooters. Currently, Honda motorcycles that use the eSAF framework include the Honda Genio, Honda Scoopy, Honda BeAT and Honda Vario 160.
The difference with other motor frames, eSAF uses steel plates that arepress and welded using laser welding. Honda claims several advantages from the eSAF frame.
1. Lighter
The first advantage, the eSAF frame is lighter than the frame tube normal. On the Honda Genio, for example, the eSAF technology makes the weight lighter. The frame is said to weigh only 11 kg. While order tube Honda’s automatic motorbike previously reached 15kg. This makes driving more comfortable and easy to maneuver.
2. Make Motor More Fuel Efficient
The lightness of the frame makes the motorbike more fuel efficient. On the Honda Genio, in an internal test using the ECE R40 method, fuel consumption reached 59.1 km/liter (ISS feature on), then Honda BeAT up to 60.6 km/liter (ISS feature on), Honda Vario 160 46.9 km / liter, and the Honda Scoopy 59 km / liter.
3. Minimal Deformation
Steel plate sheet which ispress then welded using more sophisticated technology. For the union of several steel plates in-press earlier, the welding process uses a laser welding tool which is claimed to minimize deformation.
Welding using laser welding claimed to be able to make frames in better quality and does not affect the composition frame body-his. Almost no deformation.

4. Bigger Space
The use of the eSAF frame allowed Honda engineers to design a larger space for the fuel tank and trunk. The Honda BeAT has a 12 liter trunk with a 4.2 liter fuel tank. Furthermore, the Honda Vario 160 has a trunk capacity of 18 liters and a 5.5 liter fuel tank. Then the Honda Genio has a 14 liter trunk with a 4.2 liter fuel tank. Finally, the Honda Scoopy has a 15.4 liter trunk with a 4.2 liter fuel tank.
