Honda eSAF Frame Controversy: Will There Be a Recall?

Viral on social media, the eSAF (enhanced Smart Architecture Frame) framework is accused of being easily corroded and broken. In the video narrative on social media, it shows that several Honda scooter models with the eSAF frame have broken in the frame below the deck. Is Honda going to do a recall?

Astra Honda Motor (AHM) Corporate Communication General Manager Ahmad Muhibbuddin said, before deciding to carry out a recall campaign, complaints regarding broken frames must be examined as to what happened and what the conditions were like.

“So we can’t be sure yet, because we have to study first and see first hand what happened, what the chronology is like. So we can’t yet judge that the motorbike broke for some reason, we have to examine it,” said Muhib to reporters at the Astra Honda Motor Safety Riding Park & ​​Training Center in Cikarang, Bekasi, Wednesday (23/8/2023).

Muhib continued, explaining that currently AHM and its network will educate consumers on how to respond if there are findings on their motorbikes related to rust spots on new scooters. “We will explain (to consumers) actually what is similar to rust is not rust and is not dangerous,” continued Muhib.

Meanwhile regarding the recall, Muhib said AHM had no plans to conduct a recall yet. Muhib said, Honda motorbikes are produced with strict quality standards, as well as a series of guaranteed quality tests.

“Regarding the recall, because we have stated from the start, that our products have been produced by going through a quality test process that has been tested, so we will try to provide consumer satisfaction and comfort when using our motorcycle products. Of course, we do various kinds of education. “So far, we don’t have a recall plan. Of course we will try to be proactive, fast and alert to catch any complaints submitted by consumers,” he said.

“Please if there are consumers who experience problems or complaints with their motorbikes, don’t hesitate to come to our official repair shop because we, together with the network, will proactively help and examine complaints submitted by consumers on their motorbikes, the most important thing for us is consumer comfort and safety,” Muhib said.
