Honda EM1 e: Electric Motorbike – Price, Performance, and Segments in Jakarta, Indonesia

Honda sells the EM1 e: electric motorbike in Indonesia. But the price is tight with motorbikes in the 150 cc class. Honda EM1 e: sold at prices in the range of Rp. 40 million – Rp. 45 million.

Not a few judge the Honda EM1 e electric motorbike: it’s expensive. Executive Vice President of PT Astra Honda Motor (AHM) Thomas Wijaya said the EM1 e: is in a different segment. Battery prices are also still a determining factor in price.

“The segments are different, not only in terms of price but also performance, how are they used, then electric motorbikes need infrastructure charger same battery too. It’s different from ordinary gasoline motorbikes, if we talk about it now, just buy it, just walk, right,” Executive Vice President of PT Astra Honda Motor (AHM) Thomas Wijaya at ICE BSD Tangerang recently.

“That’s an option, if there are consumers who like electric motorbikes for close-range use, go ahead welcome. That’s why the intended users and segments were different,” said Thomas.

“Currently we produce with quality, safety and comfort that reach this price range,” he added.

The price of motorbikes, which ranges from Rp. 40 million to Rp. 45 million, has the potential to fall further if PT Astra Honda Motor fulfills the requirements for receiving a subsidy of Rp. 7 million from the government. Honda EM1 e: is known to be a locally produced product. Production and deliveries are planned to begin at the end of 2023.

“In stages, yes, we are also currently processing the TKDN. We will openly convey (with consumers) that we are taking care of the TKDN for this electric motorbike,” said Thomas.

“Before the end of the year we try to send it to consumers, production and delivery will start at the end of this year,” he explained again.

Honda EM1 e: has a length of 1795 mm, width 680 mm, height 1080 mm. Compare with the Honda Beat, 1,877 mm long, 660 mm wide and 1,074 mm high.

What attracts attention is the use of a lithium-ion battery with a capacity of 26.1 ah. On paper, this electric motor can reach a maximum speed of 45 km/h. However, it can only cover a maximum distance of 41.1 km.

When charging the battery, consumers can charge with the Honda Power Pack Charger e: with a charging time of 2.7 hours (160 minutes) for 25% -75% and 6 hours for 0% -100% or consumers can visit Honda Power Pack Exchanger e: to exchange a fully charged battery.

Honda EM1 e: has a height of 135mm from the ground. On the braking side, it has also been equipped with 190 mm front discs and drum brakes on the rear side which are connected to the Combi Brake System (CBS) to make braking smoother. Meanwhile, the front tires measure 90/90 with 12-inch wheels and the rear tires measure 100/90 with 10-inch wheels.

The Honda EM1 e: which is equipped with an MPP e: battery is marketed at between Rp. 40 million – Rp. 45 million. While the battery is in the range of Rp. 10 million – Rp. 12 million. The electric motorbikes will be sold in the Honda motorcycle dealer network which has the Honda e:shop logo.
