Honda CR-V Turbo and Hybrid: Bioethanol Fuel Compatibility and Features

TANGERANG, KOMPAS.com – The All New Honda CR-V Turbo and Hybrid have been marketed at the Gaikindo Indonesia International Auto Show (GIIAS) 2023. Honda’s newest sport utility vehicle (SUV) is claimed to be safe for consuming bioethanol fuel.

For information, PT Pertamina (Persero) has marketed a new type of fuel, namely Pertamax Green 95. This fuel is a mixture of Pertamax which has RON 92 with 5 percent ethanol or also called E5.

The All New CR-V Turbo is equipped with a 1.5 L, DOHC, 4-cylinder engine. Meanwhile, the All New CR-V Hybrid relies on a 2.0 L direct-injected 4-cylinder Atkinson cycle DOHC engine combined with Electric Continuously Variable Transmission (E-CVT).

Hirofumi Hanafusa, Engineering Design Development Leader, From Automobile Development Center Automobile Operations Honda, said that both types of All New CR-V can use Pertamax Green 95.

“Both petrol (1.5 L) or hybrid (2.0 L) cars, from E0 to E22, can accept it. So, of course the E5 can,” said Hanafusa, when met at the Honda booth, Friday (13/8/2023).

Previously, Yusak Billy, Business Innovation and Sales & Marketing Director of PT Honda Prospect Motor (HPM), said that with the E5, currently Honda cars in Indonesia are compatible and there are no problems.

“Globally, outside of Indonesia, there are several countries using more than five percent bioethanol for several Honda models. For example, in Thailand, there are E85 Accord, Civic, and also E20 City, HR-V, Civic, Accord,” said Billy , when contacted by Kompas.com, some time ago.

Currently, the distribution of Pertamax Green 95 is not comprehensive. Only a few gas stations provide this type of fuel. However, it is possible that in the future it will be massively marketed.
