Marc Marquez is the highest paid racer in MotoGP. Following his contract extension two years ago, Marquez was reportedly paid €25m or Rp by Honda. 407 billion per season. However, with his condition often being injured, Honda were said to have given up on paying him too much.
Through special interviews together DAZNThe MotoGP legend who once defended Honda, Jorge Lorenzo, admitted he was sure the Japanese team regretted spending a lot of money to pay Marquez, who has been injured more often.
Marquez himself is still under contract with Honda until 2024. According to Lorenzo, if Honda extends Baby Alien’s contract yet again, the season fee would certainly be reduced.
“Marc wants to continue winning the world championships and now he can’t with Honda. Then the moment will come when he will have to choose whether to be world champion or make money, although I don’t think Honda will continue to give him the same (value) contract,” said Lorenzo, quoted by Motorsport, on Thursday (29/12/ 2022).

We know, at the time of the contract extension two seasons ago, Marquez’s conditions weren’t good. However, at the time, it was believed that he was still able to recover and return to his original form. Indeed, in the 2021 season, the 29-year-old driver can still finish seventh in the final standings.
Unfortunately, repeated fatal accidents caused his condition to plummet again. In addition to an arm injury or a broken humerus, Marquez also has diplopia or double vision. Lorenzo thinks it’s difficult for Marquez to return to his original performance.
“In the past, when his condition was 100 percent, Marc was dominant. But now he’s not. He’s also not the youngest anymore, and that’s all that’s changed for him now,” Lorenzo said.
