Finally, a joint venture between Honda and Sony is born. The two largest automotive and technology companies in Japan, Sony Honda Mobility, unveiled their new electric car brand, called Afeela.
This launch was announced by Sony Honda Mobility CEO Yasuhide Mizuno at the Consumer Electronics Show technology show in Las Vegas.
Afeela also unveiled its first electric concept car. The concept of Sony and Honda’s first electric car is quite unique. On the front is information that can be shared with anyone who looks at it from the outside.
Information embedded in the front of the car can be in the form of the weather, the car’s charging status, or even advertisements such as the Spiderman: No Way Home commercial.

Mizuno didn’t give much explanation as to why the name Afeela was chosen. However, he said the word “feel” in Afeela’s name was at the heart of the mobility experience they wanted to build.
Mizuno also provided several leaks about the launch of this electric car from a joint venture between Sony and Honda. Pre-orders will open in the first half of 2025. The first production will ship to the North American region in 2026.
Earlier reports claimed that Honda was preparing an autonomous electric car equipped with various entertainment technologies. Together with Sony, they are said to be “embedding” the Playstation 5 or PS5 console in this sophisticated vehicle.
Disitat detikOto of IGN, Head of Sony Honda Mobility, Izumi Kawanishi said that integrating the PS5 into a car is a brilliant plan that makes sense. According to him, this way his party can compete with Tesla’s technology.
“Sony has entertainment content, services and technology that can move people. We adapt these resources for mobility. This is our strength to deal with Tesla,” Kawanishi said, quoted Wednesday (11/23/2022) yesterday.
