AMBON, Siwalimanews – Homosexuality is generally considered a taboo subject. In fact, sexuality in any form is rarely discussed openly, so that only a small part of society knows and understands the behavior of this community.
In Ambon City itself, a new finding was revealed at the beginning of 2023, that the result of same-sex (homosexual) behavior was the trigger for high HIV rates in Ambon City in 2022.
Data from the Ambon City Health Office said that HIV and AIDS cases are currently increasing. There are 271 cases in 2022.
The head of the Ambon City Health Service, Wendy Pelupessy, told reporters in Ambon on Friday (3/3) that same-sex sex, or men who have sex with men (MSM), is indeed the most at risk.
It is said that health workers routinely carry out tracking and examinations, so that new cases of MSM are found in 2023
“Data on HIV cases is increasing. In 2021 there were only 116, in 2022 it increased to 253 and Aids 18, a total of 271, AIDS and HIV in 2022. And for 2023 until February there were 15 and AIDS 1. Previously, the most cases were in CSWs, now it is MSM, which is influenced their lifestyle,” explained Kadis.
In fact, continued Kadis, productive age under 45 years, which is more dominant.
With that, his party continues to conduct socialization for the community and related stakeholders, to jointly prevent the transmission of HIV/AIDS, because deviant sexual behavior like that is one of the causes of HIV/AIDS transmission because it likes to change partners, and that also happens to MSM. .
