Dr. Thompson: Collaboration is key in any successful public safety initiative. By having chief McDonnell on board, the city ensures a unified approach to tackling various crime types. This partnership allows for a more comprehensive strategy, where the LAPD can focus on immediate crime response while the Mayor’s office works on long-term prevention measures. It’s a balanced approach that addresses both the symptoms and root causes of crime.
