Homeworld 3 release delayed for ‘quality’ and ‘sustainable development’ – Gaming – News

Homeworld 3 will no longer be released in the last quarter of this year, but in the first half of next year. The postponement ensures that the developer’s ‘commitment to quality’ is maintained, but also that this can take place ‘in a sustainable way’.

By the latter, Gearbox Publishing and developer Blackbird Interactive presumably mean that the so-called crunch, working exceptionally long working weeks for a certain period of time can be avoided. This is a well-known and regularly occurring problem in the games industry.

The two sides promise Furthermore, the “biggest look into the game yet” will take place at the upcoming Gamecom trade show, which will be held in August. So far, only highly directed in-engine footage from Homeworld 3 has been shown and no actual uncut gameplay with, for example, an interface, as will be seen in the final product.

Homeworld 3 started on the crowdfunding platform Fig, in 2019. There, 1.5 million dollars was raised for the game, although the target was a dollar, so the game was already made regardless of the amount. Fig thus served more as a pre-order platform. People with a pre-order could also let us know what they want to see in the game.

Homeworld 3 will be an RTS game just like its predecessors. This game, developed by Blackbird Interactive, has to take place in space, just like the first parts in the series. The game retains the same 3D combat and RTS elements as the original turn-of-the-century Homeworld games. The story will also pick up where Homeworld 2 ended. The space rts is known for the spaceship battles that take place in 3d; the ships can therefore move in a spherical playing field and attack from all sides. Homeworld 1 and 2 were developed by Relic Entertainment. In 2015, Gearbox also released Homeworld Remastered.
