Homepod Mini has a secret sensor that is not used

According to Bloombergs Apple-expert Mark Gurman Homepod Mini has a hidden sensor that can be used to measure temperature and humidity.

The information is confirmed by Ifixit, which has found a component measuring 1.5 times 1.5 millimeters in the vicinity of the power cable. The sensor is manufactured by Texas Instruments and has the designation HDC2010.

It is not excluded that the sensor will be activated in an upcoming update, which would make it possible to use the speaker to control smart thermostats.

If Apple activates features afterwards, it will not be the first time in history that this happens. For example, Bluetooth in the 2008 model of Ipod Touch was not activated until the following year.
