Homecoming from Riau to West Sumatra via river, boat reverses when opposing currents, 3 people drown

KOMPAS.com – A number of residents from Bengkalis Regency, Riau, planning to go home to West Sumatra (West Sumatra) using a boat.

They rented an engine boat from Tanjung Village, Koto Kampar Hulu District, Kampar Regency.

There are two engine boats for rent.

The first engine boat contained four travelers and one operator. While the second is filled with three travelers and one operator.

On Wednesday (12/5/2021) at around 14.00 WIB they started to move.

The boat passes the Kopu River in Tanjung Village. This river is known to have fast currents, especially during high tide.

When this group of travelers departed, the river was in high tide.
