“I come from Bégin, it’s our home. This is my native village. I grew up there and lived there for several years on my parents’ farm. I was really happy when the municipality approached me so that I could put together the concert marking the 100th anniversary of my hometown. I wanted to present something grandiose,” proudly underlines the artist, whose last performance presented in his native village dates back more than 10 years. “It’s been a long time since I sang at our house. »
The show will take place at the Saint-Jean-de-l’évangélisation church from 8 p.m. It is a predestined place for Michaël Girard, since it was within the walls of the place of worship that he began singing while he was part of the choir. “It’s a place that I frequented a lot, since shows with a religious aspect were put on there. We were a nice gang of friends who had fun, who met and who threw big parties. »
On stage, he will be accompanied by singers Annie Villeneuve, Émile Savard, son of the mayor of Bégin and his son Tom-Éliot Girard. Four musicians, including pianist Catherine Morin, violinist Pascale Croft and guitarist Frédéric Desautels will be there.
He intends to present several songs from his repertoire which have accompanied him since the start of his career. “The show will be constructed mainly of pieces from my first three albums. » He plans to offer the public the title I was going to be a dad written by Linda Lemay to bear witness to the arrival into the world of her son.
“When I’m lucky enough to have him on stage with me, we often do this song as a duet. It’s always a beautiful moment. I will also wander through several types of repertoire and I will offer great classics from Frank Sinatra and Elvis Prestley. There will also be great French and French-speaking songs,” says the artist, who will also share moments on stage with his guests.
The cost of the ticket is $20. It is possible to obtain it at the municipal office, at the Maestro convenience store and from members of the organizing committee for the locality’s 100th anniversary.
