Through the visit of a team of vaccinators from the health center of that town.
The Government of Formosa, through the Ministry of Human Development, continues to have home vaccination operations throughout the provincial territory, with the aim of keeping the health of girls, boys and adults protected, through Calendar vaccines.
On this occasion, a new action was deployed in the town of Mojón de Fierro, where the residents received the vaccinators in their homes and girls and boys between two months of age and 5 years were immunized.
The director of the Mojón de Fierro health center, Dr. Griselda Ramírez, reported that on this occasion the doses established by the National Vaccination Calendar for the first years of childhood were applied. “In this case, from the smallest of two months to those of 5 years, it was the target age group”, she commented.
Specifically, he announced that those supplied were: the Pentavalent vaccine; Salk vaccine that prevents polio, Pneumococcal vaccine, Meningococcal vaccine that prevents meningococcal infection, Hepatitis A vaccine, Triple Viral vaccine intended to prevent measles, rubella and mumps.
Meanwhile, he indicated that the vaccine against chickenpox, the yellow fever vaccine that prevents yellow fever, the Triple Bacterial Cellular vaccine to prevent whooping cough, tetanus and diphtheria were also added to the previous ones. And the Pediatric Flu vaccine that children between six months and two years of age should receive, with the application of two doses, separated by an interval of one month.
“It is an activity that we carry out periodically so that the children of our community always have their complete doses and schemes,” Ramírez explained, about this new field vaccination operation.
And he added that the vaccinators, upon arriving at each home “talk with families to explain the importance of applying the vaccines, of having each dose always up to date, with the complete scheme to be protected from many diseases that can be from mild to serious”.
“Also, both when we visit the houses or when the neighbors come here to our health center to remind them that the vaccines are free, they are safe, they are highly effective for prevention and only a moment is required for their application. So we all need to take advantage of that and get vaccinated,” he stated.
