Four weeks after its theatrical release, “Godzilla Vs. Kong” is already on Sky at the end of July. DVD, Blu-ray and 4K Blu-ray will follow at a later date – but if you want to experience the monster blockbuster in 3D, you have to go to the cinema.
That “Godzilla Vs. Kong” is a film that comes out particularly well on the big screen should be clear to pretty much anyone who has been to the cinema in their life. Now there is, however, another reason to buy a ticket for the monster cracker – at least for 3D fans.

How Bluray-Disc.de now reported the big MonsterVerse showdown between King Kong and Godzilla will not appear on 3D Blu-ray in this country. And that although the film has already been released abroad (even including a German soundtrack). When asked, they received confirmation that the German home theater release was limited to DVD, Blu-ray and 4K Blu-ray and, of course, in the stream only to the 2D version of “Godzilla Vs. Kong”.

The official home cinema start is September 30, 2021. But if you don’t want to wait that long, you can already shake your living room with the fantasy blockbuster from July 29th – from then on the film will be available on Sky or Sky Ticket.

However, if you want to experience the monster spectacle in 3D, you have to import it (from France, for example) – or go straight to the cinema. After all, the giant monsters are only even rudimentarily as big and impressive as in the film – and especially in 3D, they really let it rip around you.
The perfect cinema comeback in Corona times
While other Warner blockbusters such as “Wonder Woman 1984” or “Mortal Kombat” ended up in the home theater due to Corona, the studio stuck to a theatrical release until the very end in the case of “Godzilla Vs. Kong” – and they did well. Because only on the screen can the epic battle of the two legendary giant monsters unfold its full force.

For FILMSTARTS chief critic Christoph Petersen, “Godzilla Vs. Kong” is “exactly the right thing to really fill the big screen after the corona-related abstinence from cinema”. The conclusion of our 3.5-star review is accordingly positive:
