Whether 150 spectators can be just as loud as 500, that will be shown on Saturday evening when TuS 04 Kaiserslautern-Dansenberg meets the second division HSG Krefeld Niederrhein in the first home game of the third division. Both teams have narrowly won their opening games, but the favorite role is clearly with the guests trained by Felix Linden.
The “Eagles” from Krefeld had to build an almost completely new team after relegation. Even if everything did not go smoothly in the 25:23 home win against TSG Haßloch, the HSG is still one of the closest favorites to the championship. The outstanding player against Haßloch was goalkeeper Oliver Krechel, who, like head coach Linden, was annoyed by too many technical errors and the poor exploitation of chances. That should get better against Dansenberg in order to be able to take two away points.
TuS coach Steffen Ecker, on the other hand, would like an atmospheric Layenberger sports hall after what feels like an eternally long break, in which around 150 spectators are expected, taking into account the current hygiene concept. His team lives from the emotions and relies on the loud support of the TuS fans. It was the emotions that led TuS to victory in the away game against TV Gelnhausen. After the more than questionable red card against goal getter Jan Claussen at the beginning of the second half, the team jolted. Everyone got a few percent more in order to leave the field as the winner in the end. This passion will be necessary to be able to stand up to the favorites from the Niederrhein region. New signing Raphaël Guden is looking forward to his first competitive game. The 20-year-old from Luxembourg last suffered from a knee injury, but is now ready for action. There is still a small question mark behind goalkeeper Kevin Klier and backcourt ace Robin Egelhof. Both had back problems during the week.
TuS coach Steffen Ecker can hardly wait to see his team play in front of a home crowd: “The anticipation for the first home game after the long break is huge. Already in the first game in Gelnhausen there were a few goose bumps when we arrived and the experience of finally being able to play again in front of our own spectators makes us all very happy. With Krefeld we also have the absolute championship favorites as our guests, which of course brings additional energy and motivation. But regardless of the final result, it will be a special evening, especially when you see the incredible effort the hard-working helpers in the club have been making for days to get as many spectators as possible into the hall despite all the restrictions. We are all very excited to see how the atmosphere will be and it is clear to us that we can only be as successful as last year with the support of our fans. We are definitely ready to have a great fight against Krefeld and to play to our strengths and hope to generate enthusiasm again with our performance. “
The game starts on Saturday evening at 7.30 p.m. (entry from 6.30 p.m.). We ask the spectators to observe the hygiene regulations of TuS 04 KL-Dansenberg and to follow the instructions of the security staff.
