In the community of Weyhe in the Diepholz district, a 90-year-old died shortly after a corona vaccination. It is the resident of an old people’s home. It is still unclear whether her death was related to the vaccination. The Paul Ehrlich Institute in Langen, Hesse, will investigate this case thoroughly, and the woman’s body will also be autopsied. The Diepholz district administrator Cord Bockhop (CDU) is concerned – the death after vaccination is the only one in the district so far. The 90-year-old was considered generally fit, spoke to relatives on the phone after the vaccination and was normal, while she was routinely observed up to around 30 minutes after the vaccination.

Died an hour after vaccination

Less than an hour later, she died – although the two doctors and the two helpers of the vaccination team as well as an emergency doctor who had been summoned tried to resuscitate her. Nevertheless, he did not doubt the quality of the vaccine and the vaccination team, emphasized District Administrator Bockhop – the vaccination in the district will continue as planned.

In the Diepholz district alone, two teams have vaccinated around 3,200 mostly elderly residents in 16 old people’s homes without complications since January 5th. With an incidence of just under 100, the district is currently slightly below the average for Lower Saxony, but has already recorded 64 deaths associated with corona infections.
