Houses for sale became more expensive again in November. It is already the sixth month in a row that the average price of an owner-occupied home is higher than the month before. This is evident from figures from statistics agency CBS and the Land Registry.
In November, buyers paid an average of 421,284 euros, which is 0.5 percent more than in October. Since June, the prices of owner-occupied houses have been rising every month compared to the previous month.
Compared to a year ago, house prices are still 0.9 percent lower. This is mainly because prices fell significantly between last summer and last summer. The reason for this was an unprecedented rapid increase in mortgage interest rates. This meant that home buyers could get less mortgage and therefore offer less money.
Last month, 15,248 houses changed hands, slightly more than in the same month last year. Measured over the first eleven months of this year, home sales are lagging somewhat behind 2022. So far this year, 162,838 homes have been sold, 5 percent less than last year.
The above figures only refer to existing buildings. New construction is not included in the figures.
