Prices for existing home ownership were 11.9% higher last month than a year earlier. The month before, the increase was much stronger, at 14.5%. It is already the fourth consecutive month that house prices have risen less rapidly, according to data from Statistics Netherlands and the Land Registry.
Price increases of 20 percent or more were often noted last winter. These steps seem to have been interrupted for the time being. Prices have risen less rapidly since May.
There is, however, no sign of decline. Prices are still rising, albeit slightly less strongly.
Homes have become twice as expensive in nine years
Since 2013, homes have become increasingly expensive. The increase is so great that homes became 99 percent more expensive over the next nine years.
The figures also show that fewer and fewer homes are changing hands. 16,405 homes were sold in August. This is 5 percent less than in the same month last year. The number of homes sold since the beginning of this year is even 20 percent lower than in the same period last year.
The above data relate only to existing buildings. Newly built homes are not included in the number of transactions and in the increased price data.
