Home Loan Service from Bogotá’s Public Libraries: Bringing Reading and Culture to Your Doorstep

The District Network of Public Libraries of Bogotá, through the home resource loan service, seeks to bring reading and culture in general closer to homes in the city, to people with disabilities and to educational institutions in the capital, plus the municipality of Soacha, delivering up to nine materials, six books and three audiovisuals from its catalogue.

The free home loan service works with just three steps, those interested must enter the online catalog and choose the resources they wish to receive.

Paso 1

Enter the web portal www.biblored.gov.co, then click on the title of your interest. In the left menu you will find the Loan application option; search, identify and locate the form and submit the request.

Remember that to access the service you must have your current affiliation or join BibloRed in just 5 minutes, entering the option ‘Affiliates’ and filling out the form. Then, it is important to validate the activation by telephone.

Paso 2

Once the home loan application is processed, a library official will contact you to validate it. In addition, the loan receipt for the material you request will arrive by email. Remember that the loan is for 20 days and that you can renew it up to 3 times if the material is not reserved by another user.

Paso 3

When the material arrives at your home, you must present your document or leave a copy of it with whom you authorize to receive the material. Do not forget to verify its status and remember that you have 24 hours to report if there is any damage that has not been detailed in the loan receipt. You can do it through our service channels: Chat, PBX 580 30 50, option 1 or by communicating directly with the library who sent you the material.

The home loan service is a free benefit available to all BibloRed members that allows you to request the loan and return materials at home and save time traveling to where the user requires it. In addition to the possibility of enjoying more than 600 thousand resources available in all the collections of the BibloRed Public Libraries.

To return the material, we offer you the following options:

The home loan service will only be available in libraries located in the urban area of ​​Bogotá, therefore, the Sumapaz and Pasquilla Public School Libraries will not offer this service, as will the District Jail Library.

The reading rooms located in Teusaquillo and Zona Centro will soon have their specialized collections on sexual and gender diversity enabled, also for home loans.
