Specifically, the 57-year-old Croatian is suspected of having contributed to the brutal robbery of the woman in his own four walls. The man is said to have collected information about the circumstances at the crime scene and passed it on to his son. He was part of the direct group of perpetrators and, like his accomplices, is already in custody.
The information passed on was primarily insider knowledge of the expected loot. In the act, the perpetrators had violently torn a safe including jewelry and cash from its anchorage with the help of an angle grinder they had brought with them and had taken it away. Previously, the masked men tried unsuccessfully to urge the woman to hand over the safe code.
Not confess
Robbery investigators from the State Criminal Police Office in Styria arrested the 57-year-old on March 7 without resistance at his home address by order of the public prosecutor’s office in Graz. House searches that had previously taken place and evaluations of electronic devices that had been seized substantiated the suspicion against the man. He did not confess when he was questioned and was taken to the Graz-Jakomini prison.
The international manhunt for a suspect who is still on the run continues. Personal information is requested from the LKA Steiermark, 059133/60-3333.
