Home game against Werder Bremen II: U23 wants to get back on the road to success

Our U23s will be welcoming Werder Bremen’s second team to the Edmund Plambeck Stadium on Sunday (22 September) at 2 p.m. After the clear 0:4 defeat at VfB Oldenburg, the Kiezkickers want to score points again against the Regioanlliga returnees from the Weser.
After previously winning games at Kickers Emden (1:0) and at home against BW Lohne (2:1), head coach Benny Hoose’s boys suffered a clear defeat at VfB Oldenburg. Despite good offensive approaches, the former third division team ultimately left the field as deserved winners. Our Boys in Brown are looking to forget their most recent performance and close the gap on points to ninth-placed Bremen with their second home win of the season. Coach Benny Hoose will have to do without Peer Mahncke. The defensive all-rounder was injured in Oldenburg and will not be available to play against SVW.
The regional league newcomer, who had a perfect season with 30 wins in 30 games and an incredible goal difference of 213:17 during their guest appearance in the Bremen league last year, is also travelling to Norderstedt with a defeat under their belt. In the duel between the promoted teams, coach Christian Brand’s team recently suffered a 1:2 home defeat against SV Todesfelde. Despite Werder’s greater share of the game, the guests were more effective and inflicted SVW’s second home defeat of the season. Before that, however, the Green-Whites celebrated clear victories in Oldenburg and against Meppen.
“With Werder we are facing an opponent who is extremely variable and dangerous offensively. As a team and individually we want to build on our recent defensively stable performances. With the ball it will be important to have courageous phases and to play purposefully towards the opponent’s goal,” said head coach Benny Hoose before the match against Werder Bremen II.
