Having succeeded in entering the house where Christ was, the woman, carrying an alabaster vessel of precious ointment, wanted to testify her respect. In her haste, so as not to interfere with her good intention, she broke the vessel, so that the ointment could be more easily spilled.
This was not approved of, and some of the apostles grumbled under the pretext that it would be better to sell the ointment and give the money to the poor. And Christ said not to disturb her, because this zeal of hers will be known all over the world.
Then Judas went to the Jewish leaders and arranged for the betrayal of Christ for thirty pieces of silver. From that day the prostrations of prayer did not cease.
