Holy music | Radio Horeb Life with God …

Credo – Christian worship, the liturgy, is inconceivable without music. Be it the sung prayer, the hymn, cantata or oratorio or the so-called postludium of the organ at the end of the mass. The Second Vatican Council spoke of an “inestimable riches” in sacred music: “Thus, the more sacred music will be, the more closely it is connected to the liturgical act, be it that it expresses prayer more intimately or promotes unanimity, be it that it surrounds the sacred rites with greater solemnity. ” (Liturgy Constitution Sacrosanctum Concilium, No. 112). In an interview with Deacon Andreas Martin, Pastor Ulrich Lindl reminds us that church music is not entertainment, but part of our life with God. It is also prayer. It is not for nothing that church teachers also call liturgical music “holy”: musica sacra.

Ulrich Lindl is a pastor in the pilgrimage site of Biberbach near Augsburg. As a boy, Ulrich Lindl always came into positive contact with the church. Be it through his parents’ house, his service as an altar boy or many good encounters with his local pastors. So the priesthood was a real option for him early on. Nevertheless, he could not decide on this path immediately after graduating from high school. Instead, he began to study medicine and graduated with a doctorate. After this “reflection period” his path actually led him to the seminary.
