Holstein Kiel: That’s what the fans say about the semi-finals

Second division soccer team Holstein Kiel won with the 3-0 win on Wednesday evening in the DFB Cup quarter-finals at the regional league team Red and white food History has already been written. The friends were not only big among those responsible and the players of the KSV. What do the fans say about making it to the semi-finals? Of the KN-Sportbuzzer has gone to vote.

Peter Hackelberg-Peters (Holstein-Fan): First took a deep breath after the game. It was hard work against a very strong fourth division team. Once again, Ole Werner tactically adjusted the team perfectly to the expected RWE style of play. Thanks to the team and the whole team. In difficult times, once again conjured up a smile on your face and not just for a day, but for eternity. Nobody takes that from us anymore.

Marco Nehmer (Holstein reporter for Kieler Nachrichten): Incomprehensible. But also incredibly deserved. Whoever clears the thickest chunk out of the way in the second lap is not among the last four by chance. It is well known that Holstein can play football. The fact that the storks can withstand the pressure of an all-or-nothing game is also meanwhile. A worthy semi-finalist.

Timo Stark (Holstein fan and photographer): Just think it’s great what the boys call up week after week, especially in January, February, without a real winter break, with up to seven games a month.

Marcel Korn (coach of 1. FC Schinkel): Even if it wasn’t a good game yesterday and there were one or two lucky decisions in between, Holstein shows that anything is possible in the DFB Cup. And whoever throws Bayern out and is in the semifinals is right there. Holstein has deservedly achieved something historical and that is good for the city, the fans and of course the club, especially in the pandemic.

Frank Roosch (Holstein-Fan): Everything is so incredibly beautiful and hard to believe. Holstein in the semifinals and second in the league. Everything is really sensational. I indulge my love “Holstein Kiel” with all my heart.

Björn Rehder (Holstein fan): World class! Holstein Kiel is writing football history and is making it into the semi-finals of the DFB Cup for the first time in the club’s history. We fans only dream of Berlin now, of course, but if you create the next sensation and you would have to contest the final without fans, it would be a scandal. You might experience something like that so quickly or not at all.

Jan-Claas Harder (KN-Sportbuzzer): Personally, I have to admit that the DFB-Pokal has bored me quite a bit in the recent past, because in my opinion this competition has lost a lot of its attractiveness. Just look at the past twenty years. The pot went ten times to Bayern, with Bremen, Schalke and Dortmund winning two titles each. Otherwise only Wolfsburg, Nuremberg and Frankfurt could win the thing in the end. There were usually no big surprises and that was always a shame. It would be nice if underdogs found their way to the finals more often, as was simply the case in the past. In 1992 the second division Hannover 96 triumphed, in 1993 the amateurs of Hertha BSC were in the final, then in 1994 Rot-Weiss Essen and 1997 Energie Cottbus. Unfortunately, something like that hardly happens anymore. So I’m happy that there are exceptions to the surprises this year. So I didn’t care whether Essen or Kiel made it to the semi-finals. I would have allowed RWE to advance as well. I thought it was a shame that the path to the Kiel victory was paved by a serious wrong decision. If a regional league is to have a real chance in such a game, then such mistakes must not happen. And this was also unfavorable, as Holstein has now benefited from such wrong decisions several times in the league.

Tina Rothenstein (Holstein-Fan): I’m totally out of my socks and so incredibly proud of the team. I still can’t believe it. In the semifinals I would have liked Regensburg and a little further spun, in the final Dortmund. It goes on – on and on.

Fritten-Andy (Holstein-Fan): Well what should I say !? This season you slip from one speechlessness to the other. What Ole and his team are doing this season is simply gigantic and makes the Holstein heart beat faster. My wish for the semifinals KSV – BVB and in the final against Werder Bremen. Let’s go storks – we’re going to do this thing now.

Mark Hungerecker (Trainer SVE Comet Kiel): This is the result of an outstanding work by Ole Werner. For the club, the city and the whole surrounding area, this is an outstanding thing, but it must not be over yet. Because it only gets really awesome when Holstein Kiel plays for the trophy in the Olympic Stadium!

Daniel Henke (Holstein-Fan): I am incredibly proud of this team and the coaching team. You can only take your hat off to what games they have been cracking at the last two months. You notice and see what a great atmosphere there is within the team. It is simply unbelievable to be in the DFB-Pokal semi-finals and to have thrown a world-class team out of the cup in the second round.

Fabian Pede (R.SH-Moderator): I have a big goose skin when I think of what the storks are tearing down this year. In the league and also in the cup. Semi-finals – this is madness. But not undeserved after the achievements. After easily progressing against Rielasingen in round 1, Bayern immediately got the biggest chunk in the competition in the second round. By then, many had already written off the competition – I hadn’t expected progress either. Even Bayern couldn’t stop the storks’ soaring and then you deserve to be in the semi-finals. It was also very good for the heart of the fan that Essen did not go to penalties. Kiel simply played it cleverly to the end and once again confirmed that they are a great team – everything fits. Hopefully now in the semifinals against the winner from Bremen – Regensburg and in the final against Dortmund – that would be my dream. And no matter how it turns out in the end: You can already be proud of yourself, you Ströche. You brought a little lightness and joy to the whole state during this difficult time and for that alone I am very grateful. And who knows, maybe they will crown this incredible season and then play internationally next year as the cup winners. And for me one thing is certain: My lucky sweater and lucky hat that I’ve been wearing since the first round in the studio while I’m watching the game will not be washed at first!

Andreas Geidel (Holstein expert): In the past we celebrated regional cup victories against TuS Hoisdorf, today Holstein is in the semifinals against Dortmund, Leipzig or Regensburg / Werder. A dream! Surreal!

Arne Butscheck (Holstein fan): Many thanks to the fans of RWE for the very nice, nocturnal welcome fireworks and to the VAR in Cologne, for the penalty, which was a bit borderline. But as it is, small gifts maintain friendship and are also gladly taken away. The victory in Essen and the associated progression to the semi-finals feels a bit unreal when you consider that a few years ago we were an extremely mediocre third division team. And what Ole Werner has done with this team since taking over from André Schubert is also sensational. I’m looking forward to the semi-finals.

Andrè Haase (KN-Sportbuzzer and KN-online): Even the day after, it still feels surreal. Moving into the semi-finals. Teams like Dortmund, Leipzig and Werder / Regensburg are waiting! Incredible and incredible. The storks have already written a story for the ages. Not to mention the performance in the 2nd Bundesliga.

Phillip Kamke (NDR-Reporter): I am happy for the team that they can continue their journey in the DFB Cup. I wasn’t quite sure what to expect for the storks in Essen, as I only knew RWE from the results in the DFB Cup. In my mind there were two variants. Once that it will be a tight box – or that Holstein wins 3-0. I actually said that to my colleagues in the editorial office yesterday. Great story that the boys have made history. I am very curious to see who you will get in the next round.
