In the summer, Holstein advanced to the highest level of the league for the first time in its 124-year history. The fans were in for a much bigger celebration on Saturday, when the great Bayern came to Cologne.
And that celebration really was, except that it took the Munich team exactly 14 seconds to spoil their excellent mood. A few long balls, a few crosses and Musiala had the ball on the edge of the penalty area. He shot unstoppable.
Far from the record
A goal in the 14th second is a great achievement, but they were quicker in the Bundesliga. In 2014, Karim Bellarabi from Bayer Leverkusen scored in the ninth second against Borussia Dortmund. A year later, Kevin Volland equalled his feat when he scored for Hoffenheim against Bayern.
The Bavarians took the lead immediately and kept up the momentum. They led the newcomer 4-0 at half-time.
The new Bundesliga leader eventually won 6:1. Harry Kane scored a hat-trick, and Tymoteusz Puchacz assisted on the consolation goal. The Pole appeared on the pitch in the 46th minute.
