Hologram Lexie informs residents about vaccinations – Region Online

Come to the town hall The Hague and meet Lexie: this hologram, connected to artificial intelligence (AI), can answer all your questions about childhood vaccinations. With Lexie, the city wants to explore how AI can support informing residents. This pilot is part of a larger initiative in The Hague to increase the low vaccination rate.

Hologram Lexie

“Is my child too young for a vaccine?”, “How do I know a vaccine is safe?”, “What are the side effects of a vaccine?”. These are all questions that Lexi can answer. Hologram Lexie can be found in the City Hall Atrium from September 16th until October 3rd. Lexie offers residents an accessible way to get information about vaccinations. The use of the hologram is a pilot to investigate how AI can support medical staff in providing information. 30 Lexies has previously been used at more than 10 educational institutions to support teachers. Lexie also speaks several languages, including English, Italian and Turkish.

Councilor Hilbert Bredemijer: “Information about vaccines must be accessible and easy to understand. With Lexie we explore how AI can help with this. This technology can provide good support to paediatricians in providing information. Be sure to visit the town hall and talk to Lexie, so we can better learn how to use AI.”

As part of the city-wide campaign

Lexie is an AI-connected hologram. All questions asked of Lexie are stored and verified by medical staff. This ensures that Lexie provides good quality answers and provides accurate information to residents. In addition, a youth nurse or a youth doctor is always present at the hologram to ensure that residents get the right answer to their question. They can also talk to residents when this is needed.

New figures for the area emerged this month GGD Haaglanden that the vaccination rate in The Hague continues to decrease. To properly protect children from infectious diseases, a vaccination rate of 90% is required. This has not been achieved in any area of The Hague. So the city has launched a campaign throughout the city, and Lexie is part of it. The campaign is called Prikpraat. And it is aimed specifically at people with doubts and gives the opportunity to talk to experts about this.
