The circumstances of the death of Vladimir Shchukin are very similar to the murder of the famous historian Nikolai Shityuk, who was the scientific advisor of his Ph.D. thesis.
In Nikolaev, the famous scientist, candidate of historical sciences, local historian Vladimir Shchukin was found dead and with signs of a violent death. About it reported Commissioner for the protection of the state language Taras Kremin on Friday, May 14.
“I don’t want to believe that unknown intruders interrupted the life of a talented teacher, brilliant historian, gifted researcher Vladimir Shchukin,” Kremin wrote on the Mykolaivske Facebook page.
By information Police, today at about 7:00 in the morning at 102 a resident of the house on Central Avenue called and said that the door of his neighbor’s apartment was open, and he himself was lying on the floor.
The investigative and operational group of the police department No. 1, the leadership of the GUNP and the Nikolaev district police department, promptly arrived at the scene. An expert examined the body of a 67-year-old man and found bodily injuries to the head, stab wounds.
A criminal case was initiated under the article on premeditated murder (part 1 of article 115 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).
In turn, the local edition News-N reports that Vladimir Shchukin was a teacher at the Sukhomlinsky National University, headed a department at the Nikolaev Institute of Law of the Odessa National Law Academy, was the author of a number of books and scientific works.
Shchukin was engaged in the compilation of the chronicle and analysis of the tragic events of the Holocaust on the territory of the modern Nikolaev region. In 2006 he defended his Ph.D. thesis on the topic of Stanovishche of the Jewish population of the Kherson province in the 19th – on the ear of the 20th century. Author of over 250 scientific, methodological and popular science publications.
The publication indicates that the circumstances of the death of Vladimir Shchukin are very similar to the murder of the famous Nikolaev historian, Doctor of Historical Sciences Nikolai Shityuk, who, by the way, was the scientific supervisor of Shchukin’s Ph.D. thesis. Shityuk was one of the most famous in Ukraine and abroad researchers of the Holodomor of 1933.
As a reminder, in September 2018 Nikolay Shityuk was found with a knife in his back in a rented apartment. The next day his killer was arrested – 25-year-old resident of the Nikolaev area. According to him, he inflicted fatal knife wounds on the victim due to “a sudden quarrel on the basis of personal relationships.”
