Holmenkollen Folk Festival and Raw Air Tournament: Skiing, Prices, and Precautions

The stage is set for a folk festival in Holmenkollen this weekend with the Raw Air tournament and five miles for both sexes in the World Cup in cross-country skiing.

The historic Kollen weekend brings a number of ski enthusiasts from all over the world and the folk festival also makes headlines in Finland.

– Shooting himself in the foot

The Finnish newspaper Iltalehti have taken the trip to Oslo and have spoken to Finns who are reacting to the price level during the weekend.

The newspaper lists a number of prices:

“A small beer of 0.33 liters for around 12 euros. A slice of pizza for 23 euros. Venison burger for 17.50 euros. Mineral water (0.7 litres) for 7.50 euros.”

– Piggy. The tourists are ripped off, Finns Lasse and Jykä tell the newspaper in Holmenkollen.

The two Finns say that they are very interested in sports and have traveled to many sporting events around the world.

– A long weekend in Oslo costs the same as a month in Budapest – and the price in Budapest includes tickets to the F1 qualification and the race, they say.

At the same time, the newspaper points out that Finland, and specifically Helsinki, is probably not that much cheaper. According to Ilhatelhti, the country’s capital is more expensive than Oslo in an overview of 2023.

However, it is possible to make it a little cheaper for yourself this weekend.

True to tradition, you can experience the Kollen weekend from the field and in Norway the stories in the media have been more about the fear that the five-mile will become a real drunken party.

– We hope that this year’s Holmenkollen ski festival will be a real folk party for everyone, and not a drunken party for anyone, the Oslo police sign Facebook.

– Aware that it is planned

Oslo mayor Anne Lindboe asks parents to talk to young people about five thousand.

– Last year there were reports of drunk adults and young people who could not account for themselves. It is dangerous, and something we parents must talk to our young people about, says Lindboe in a press release.

This year the women get the honor of walking the 5 miles on Saturday. The race starts at 10.30am. The men will be in action on Sunday at the same time.

Raw Air continues with the men’s race at 2.40pm on Saturday. The women will be in action at 4.45pm.
