The major studios in Hollywood have made an offer to the striking scriptwriters. It would be a final offer, American media report.

A large number of writers have been on strike since May. As a result, many productions in Hollywood are at a standstill. Renegotiations with the studios took place in recent days.

The writers and screenwriters want new agreements on the distribution of royalties. The current agreements are outdated, meaning they hardly receive any money when a series or film is offered on a streaming service. The writers also want to make agreements about the use of artificial intelligence when creating scripts.

‘Closer together’

The American writers’ union has yet to announce whether the screenwriters agree to the proposal. The parties are said to have come closer during the negotiations in recent days, several American entertainment trade magazines report.

Later today, representatives of the writers’ union WGA and the studios will return to the negotiating table. The alliance of film and TV producers represents Netflix, Disney, Amazon, Warner Bros-Discovery, Apple, Universal, Sony, Paramount, ABC, NBC, FOX and CBS.
