A new edition of the EA Sports FIFA series arrived this autumn, and now a Liverpool joke has been unveiled as an ‘easter egg’.
“Easter eggs” are what the gaming industry calls secret features hidden in a game. It can be text, images, special scenes, a tribute to something else, humor and much more, and it’s up to players and fans to discover them.
Star actors joke about Liverpool
If you start a match between Liverpool and National League team Wrexham, one of these eggs will be activated.
As the players prepare on the mat, the commentary track goes to two Hollywood celebrities Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney.

The intro goes like this:
– I think we have a message from the owners of Wrexham, says commentator Derek Rae (before spreading the word).
– This is a special match between a big club, a giant club, against a very small club, it comes from Reynold/McElhenney.
– A little improvisation of a football team. We are obviously talking about Liverpool. Liverpool’s little club. A small club in a small town.
Popular owners
In this country, McElhenney is best known for the popular comedy series It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia. Reynolds is one of the most popular actors in the world having starred in movies like Van Wilder, Buried, Blade: Trinity, Green Lantern, 6 Underground, Free Guy and Deadpool.
In February 2021, the two bought the Welsh club through their company RR McReynolds Company LLC.
What has caught the eye is that the two stars have bought such a small club and become positively involved with Wrexham.
In 2022, the owners were visited by Kings Charles and Camilla themselves and also received the local award ‘The Freedom of Wrexham’.
Historically, Liverpool have met Wrexham 19 times. The last time was in the League Cup in 1978.
