Carl Reiner turned 98 years old and died of natural causes, reports the news agency AP.
The Hollywood veteran was an actor, comedian, director, screenwriter and publisher. His career spanned seven decades, and he was particularly popular in the comedy duo with Mel Brooks.
Reiner is also known for writing The Dick Van Dyke Show, and for his roles in the films Ocean’s Eleven and Ocean’s Thirteen. He also directed several Steve Martin films, including The Jerk in 2001.

His son, film producer Rob Reiner, confirmed the death on Twitter Tuesday.
